Top Centre Awards
It is with great pleasure to announce to you that our Centre was
awarded a ‘Bronze’ plaque “for outstanding commitment in all aspects of
Little

at the Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic)
Centrefest (Shepparton) last weekend (23rd July).
Out of the 106 Centres across
Victoria , our Centre came 9th.
The Criteria for the award is based upon the following:-
On behalf of all members and the current committee, I would like to congratulate the 2010 /11 committee and its then president, Enza Pascuzzi , on their combined efforts and achievement in attaining this significant award. We would also like to thank all the children, parents, carers and volunteers - past and present, for contributing your fun, time, knowledge and energy to help us attain this award. We look forward to continuing on the good work for our coming season.
IGA State X-Country 2011
Congratulations to Jake, Flynn, Laura and Claudia who competed at the State Cross Country at Buninyong on Sunday the 3rd of July. It was a freezing cold day (for us parents anyway), but at least it didn't rain. Even saw the sun for a brief moment.
The kids all did a great job and represented our centre well. All gave it their best efforts and achieved a good result. Well done!!
Thanks also to Sean for being team manager for the day.

Cross Country 2011
The Cross Country season for 2011 is up and running. Start is at 9:00am sharp, so if all athletes competing could be there by 8:45am it would be much appreciated.
New members are most welcome.
The registration form can be found on
the Forms & Info page. This form also
includes the event dates. You can register on the day or via Clubs
Online. Fees are $25 for existing athletes or $65 for new members.
Note: Parents will be required to assist during the event. This generally involves the marking of the course with traffic cones, a course safety check, starting and timing, course marshaling, packing up and enjoying soup at the end of it. A small job for each, overall.
Media/Publications
We were fortunate enough to get
a mention in the April issue of the
'Making Tracks' newsletter for our efforts for Bring A Friend Day.

to see a copy. It also includes details of the various events on the
Little Athletics calendar this year.
PRLAC Championship Day
The PRLAC Championship Day 2010/11 was held on Saturday the 26th of March. Thankfully the weather held out and a great day was had by all. Thanks to all those who participated and helped out on the day. There will be some photos soon on the Gallery page.
2010/11 Track and Field season
Setup starts at 7:30am (approx).
We'd very much appreciate some
parent volunteers to help with getting things ready on our competition
days. As they say, many hands make light work.
We require a subscription fee of $2.00 each competition day. This subscription goes towards paying for trophies and awards.
Unfortunately, the Melbourne weather was not kind to us this season. So, if overnight showers and rain are predicted for a competition day, the Technical Team and Arena Manager will inspect the arena in the morning to ensure it is safe to use.
If we have light / intermittent rain on a good and safe arena - we would run competition as is normal practice. We would run a 'wet weather program' - mainly running.
The Centre has also purchased four portable Gazebos which will be set up at the relevant events that will be run on that day. If there is any light rain, the Team Managers and athletes will be kept dry during their events.
Also, it would be great if some parents could help set up these Gazebos as you need at least three to four people to assemble them. However, if it is not safe to use, (i.e. ground and throwing areas waterlogged, jumping pits waterlogged and the track itself ponding) we will issue a cancellation via SMS at 7.30am on Saturday.
You may also wish to call Joe Fratto on 0405 827 785 at around 7.30am to confirm if we are competing or not.
Also, if there is an electrical storm, the particular event(s) will be ceased until it is safe to continue.
Working with Children cards
Hi everyone, our centre and children rely on parents or carers to volunteer to assist at events. To be able to do this, the government requires all volunteers to have a Working With Children (WWC) card. Please do visit your local post office to pick up a form and lodge a ‘Check’ with them. There is no charge, apart from a passport photo. Having this card also comes in handy when you are helping at school. If you do have one already, please let us know.
